Understand team roles and event permissions

Compare role capabilities and understand why access can differ between events.

How access is decided

A role describes permitted actions. The subscription decides which features the workspace can use. Both must allow the action. A person can have a workspace role and a separate event role; those permissions can combine. Record-level restrictions still apply, including assigned tasks for task contributors.

Workspace roles

The reference below summarizes the product’s role definitions. Workspace owners and administrators receive event-owner capabilities across their workspace. Operations managers receive event-manager capabilities, and workspace finance managers receive finance capabilities. Ordinary membership does not grant unrestricted event editing.

Event roles

Use the event-role reference when assigning collaborators to one event. View, create, edit, delete, export and check-in are separate permissions. Read-only access does not necessarily expose guests, finances or files. Subscription limits and the record’s current state can further restrict an action.

Check an unexpected denial

Confirm the selected workspace and event, ask a workspace owner to review your active membership and event assignment, then check the plan. Upgrading the plan does not by itself give your account permission to manage people or billing.
