Create and edit a floor plan
Lay out the room, tables and objects before assigning guests.
Before you begin
Your plan must include Seating, and your event role must allow layout management. Permission to assign guests is different from permission to change the floor plan. Select the correct event and plan before editing.
Build the room
Open Seat assignments and use Floor plan. Start with a blank plan or an available layout design. Review the room dimensions and scale. Add tables and venue objects, then edit their size, position and rotation with the object controls. Give tables recognizable names or numbers.
Move around the plan
- Select an unlocked table or object and drag it to move it.
- With the object focused, press ] to rotate it 15 degrees. Use the Properties controls for precise position, dimensions and rotation.
- Choose Lock selected objects to protect the placement, or Unlock selected objects to edit it again.
- To move the view instead, hold Space and drag the canvas. Release Space before selecting objects. Two-finger scrolling pans; a touchpad pinch or Ctrl/Command plus wheel zooms around the pointer.
- Use Fit to plan to see the whole room. Check the save status before leaving. Canvas shortcuts require canvas or object focus, not a text field.
Work with layers and walls
Use Layers to find overlapping objects and review visibility and locks. If objects have no layers, choose Organize by type. Use the layer’s Lock control to protect all of its objects, and Unlock before editing them again. Object locks and layer locks are separate.
- Choose Draw custom shape and set Drawing type to Connected walls.
- Open Options and enter a recognizable Name.
- Use Add point at centre, then set the point’s X and Y coordinates. Repeat to define the connected wall. Review the drawing preview.
- Choose Add to plan.
- To revise it, select the wall, open Properties and choose Edit outline. Adjust the drawing points and choose Save outline.
Check the selected object before changing dimensions or deleting it. Use Undo for an accidental edit while its history is available. Locked objects and assignments can prevent template replacement.
Review before seating
Check capacity, spacing and accessible routes with the venue team. Automated layout checks help you find issues but do not certify a room’s suitability. Use the available export view to review paper size and drawing style before downloading.
